In a quest to become more domesticated i have taken up all things baking (apologies to those who follow us on instagram) one of my favourtie sweet treats to whip up are Churros, the spanish doughnut. They're super easy to make and even easier to demolish the whole batch before the end of an episode of friends.
Ingredients
7oz plain flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons caster sugar
9 fl oz water
1 egg beaten
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 lt sunflower oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Mix the flour, salt and one tablespoon of sugar into a mixing bowl. Pour the water into a saucepan and bring to the boil. Take off the heat and add the flower mixture, then return to the heat and stir until it forms a clean smooth ball. Remove from the pan and leave on the side to cool for 10 minutes.
Gradually beat the whole egg, egg yolk and Vanilla into the flour mixture until smooth.
Pour oil into a saucepan, once boiling spoon teaspoons of the mixture into the oil, These will very quickly turn golden brown. Once golden remove from oil and turn over in your sugar and cinnamon mixture that you made earlier...eat warm for best results!x
