Felbridge Hotel and Spa

When one can't quite justify a holiday sometimes a visit to a spa for some much needed R&R isn't actually a bad second best. So some Thursdays ago, my best friend and I packed our comfiest of clothes and whizzed down the motorway to the Gorgeous Felbridge spa. This spa break was booked on a whim after a 3 minute conversation that went something like this:

Chloe: ahhh work's crappy, weathers crappy, I need a break!
Rosa: oh me too.
Chloe: hang on I'll google spa's

"3 minute google break"

Chloe: I've found a great one - shall I book? Leaving tomorrow, back Friday?
Rosa: Perfect, I'll pick you up at 11. let's grab a Starbucks on the way.

Clearly it takes little, in the way of persuasion on both our parts.

Anyway as this trip was booked super last minute, with very little research (usually I like a good 2 hour trawl through Tripadvsior) I decided it best to keep expectations to a minimum. Actually I would have been quite satisfied with a comfy bed, warm food and a Bodyshop face mask. Well ladies and gents, in our night's stay at Felbridge Spa we received all of that and some.

A room with a view, chilled Proseco upon arrival, robes, the fluffiest pillows I've ever laid my little head on and a power shower... I ask you, what more could I want?

After an hour or so of doing nothing more than feeling utterly relaxed in the hotel room, we decided to go for a swim/sauna/steam - of course we wandered down in our robes and slippers (the best part of being at a spa is that very little time is spent in actual clothes.) The pool area was idyllic, peaceful and above all, relaxing.

All of this doing very little makes for two very hungry girls, so after a whole load of nothing, we retired back to the room for a quick change into aforementioned comfy clothes and went down to the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is small and intimate which makes for a nice setting, the food was amazing and the staff friendly. Nobody seemed to bat an eyelid that we were sans make-up with over sized clothing on (which is music to our ears). After a great meal we waddled back to the room to watch one of the many dvd's available from reception, guzzle the last of the Proseco and enjoy and early night.

Before checking out at 12pm the next day we enjoyed a late wake up call followed by a buffet style breakfast with absolutely every option of every food you could imagine. Sadly our trip was over but we drove back to London feeling refreshed and ready for the hustle and bustle. Sometimes all it takes is 24 hours spent outside of the M25 to feel brand new again.

I highly recommend the Felbridge hotel and spa for an affordable no frills yet just the right amount of gloriousness night away.

With thanks to the Felbridge spa and staff.
Based on two people sharing on a weekday, this cost us £59 per person inclusive of all spa facilities, dinner and breakfast each.
