Fashion Word of the Day: Pinafore

Childhood memories of ours just came flooding back. What is it with mums and dressing their little girls in a pinafore or pinafore dress? This sleeveless garment, similar to an apron, has made its fair share into family snapshots through out our younger years. Originally used since the late 19th century to protect dresses until in the late 20th century when they became an accessory for girl's dresses. Gingham, plaid, floral printed, and checked. We had a whole lot of them. Feeling quite sentimental now. Laura Ashley here we come...
